On the continuation of my current obsession of collecting Banpresto figurines for Demon Slayer anime, I've picked up the second figurine from the same line as the one I've bought previously which was manufactured by Bandai Spirits Co., Ltd. featuring the waifu of many otaku out there, Nezuko Kamado (竈門 禰豆子 - Kamado Nezuko) or as we all call her, Nezuko-chaaaaaaaaaaaan!
Of course, this figurine is part of Demon Slayer : Guardians of the Night (鬼滅の刃フィギュアー絆ノ装 Kimetsu no Yaiba Figua - Kizuna no Sou) designed by Banpresto Co. Ltd. (toy company that has merged with Bandai Spirits Co., Ltd. since 2019) and I just love how she's looking so sweet in here.
But first off, let's go the packaging!
After extensive search through several online shopping platforms, I've finally managed to find this figurine on Shopee as I've decided that it's the best platform for buying figurines as of right now. After making comparisons to the photos posted on myfigurecollection.net, I'm confident that this figure is indeed authentic so it was a huge relief as I've found a lot of fakes and counterfeits also sold on the very same platform.
I've noticed that the front elevation of the figurine being printed on both smaller sides of the box with the right side featuring the A version or the Sepia Colour version of the previous release of figurines; Tanjirou Kamado First Form in Sepia Colour version was featured along side the Second Form of this figurine line which is Nezuko Kamado B version in normal colour as shown above.
At the back of the box, there's the front elevation of the figurine being printed again along with the manufacturer address at the bottom part of the box. There's the manufacturing date printed at the bottom side of the box which is May, 2020 hence this figurine that I've gotten is actually a re-release version of the figurine as it first came out back in September, 2019.
At the top side of the box, there's the official anime logo with the figurine's name printed on it. There's also the indicator (white box) that this figurine is for Sales Outside Japan Only. According to a Shopee seller, an authentic figure always comes in a box and there's serial number stamped on the inner side of of the top (sometimes bottom) lid of the box so definitely check yours before cutting open the plastic cover.
Now, the figurine came with an inner packaging that supposedly hold the unassembled figurine inside so even when the outer box get smashed into half of its size, not to worry as the figurine should be safe for you to unbox. Well, I'd sure hope so as I've already gotten one figurine with torn outer box at this point and it's still in perfect condition although the Shopee seller sure got a long review with multiple photos and a video.
Of course, the figurine came in unassembled parts as shown above sealed in clear plastics; usually in 3 to 6 parts depending on the design but for this Second Form, there's the black oval base, the body and then the head and these took me less than a minute to assemble.
Aww~ Just look at her! Such a cutipie and innocent-looking she is! Kinda wish I can tie my hair with a pink ribbon like that too with matching pink contact lenses. Okay, I seriously need to at least come up with a makeup look for this.
Side elevations of the figurine. I don't know if you guys can see it clearly but the gradation effect on her hair wasn't painted nicely and at some parts are looking as if the colours are chipped. Even so, I think they nailed the colour nicely.
Back elevation of the figurine. Look at her hair flowing like that!
Among all the figurines that I've gotten from this line, Nezuko is the only with such embossed copyright logo on it. I think it's probably because there are mountains of bootlegs for this character out there so this is one of the ways to determine the authenticity of this figurine.
While Nezuko-chan actually being featured on 11th volume of the original manga, I won't spoil you guys with her 'changed' look especially the second season of the anime is coming in less than a year. But if you're willing to buy the original Japanese manga, you gotta appreciate the alternate cover that's printed on the actual comic or you can just see the coloured version of it at the end credit of Demon Slayer anime Season 1 Episode 19.
Nezuko-chan and her ever-loving brother, Tanjirou-niichan! What do you guys think of this figurine? Does it feel like it's coming out of your screen or manga page? Definitely let me know by leaving comments down below.
